Hawking radiations discovered

Physicists have managed to make something that looks roughly like Hawking radiation, the thing that Hawking says, if found, would guarantee his Nobel Prize.  Well, sort of.  As I understand it, Hawking radiation is the result of black holes gobbling down half of a virtual particle pair.  Not the result of trapped light.
