This article in Science is very interesting. Analysis of chimp & Neaderthal brains shows that there is a crucial structural difference - bulging parietal lobes and cerebellums (cerebella?). This simple difference ruled out Neaderthals from advancing the way we have.
Another boost towards the scientific basis of human exceptionalism.
